The town of Sooke, British Columbia, offers a full range of outdoor recreation including hiking, cycling, kayaking, fishing, and whale watching. Many of southern Vancouver Island's parks are located in the Sooke - Port Renfrew region. Sooke also offers the more passive pursuits of spas, artisan galleries, and unique dining experiences. A 40 minute drive away is the City of Victoria, with its diverse shops, art galleries, and live entertainment.

East Sooke Park Almost right next door is East Sooke Park with its 50 kilometers of trails through lush temperate rainforest and along rocky coastlines. Revel in sheltered coves and beaches; explore tide pools teeming with sea life. Three entrances into the park offer plenty of variety: Aylard Farm is picnic popular, Anderson Cove leads to the hilltops where eagles soar, and Pike Road sends you to the ocean.

Galloping Goose Trail The Galloping Goose Trail offers a more relaxed pace for casual walkers, cyclists, and horse back riders. Once a railroad running from Victoria to the gold mining town of Leechtown, this trail winds its way through forests, over mountains, and around lakes. You can pick up our local end of it at scenic sunset spot Roche Cove.

Kayaking with Rush Adventures Sooke is certainly not limited to hiking and also offers a full bounty of marine adventures. Explore the waters of the Sooke Basin with guide Rush Adventures, where you'll see seals and otters play. Watch magnificent orca whales splash in the Strait of Juan de Fuca on a whale watching expedition. Reel in the big one with one of Sooke's many guided fishing charters and BBQ it on your private patio.

Marcus Wharfside Dining Sooke is also quickly becoming a hotspot for great food, featuring most notably the world renowned Sooke Harbour House Restaurant. Also check out the Smoking Tuna Cafe and Marcus' Wharfside Restaurant - a must for fresh local cuisine! We also recommend Point No Point, Little Vienna Bakery, and the Historic 17 Mile House.
